Dr. Verstraete-Young grew up in East China Michigan and attended North Carolina State University where she graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Animal Science. She then attended veterinary school in the Caribbean at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she worked for a small animal practice in the suburbs of Chicago for 6 years before moving back to Michigan to be closer to family. She is very passionate about preventative care, surgery, dentistry, and geriatric care. Dr. Verstraete-Young prides herself on treating your pet as she would her own and partnering with you around your pet's care.
Dr. Verstraete-Young lives in an 1890s farmhouse in Memphis with her husband and daughter as well as their two cats Batman and Dequinder, a cocker spaniel named Dale, and a parson terrier named Chip. During her free time, she enjoys camping, scuba diving, riding 4 wheelers, reading with her daughter, bonfires, and spending time with family and friends.
